Frank J. Haas v. Charlie L. Montgomery, Charles F. Coleman, II and The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the State of West Virginia, Civil Action No. 08-C-1035, Kanawha County, West Virginia.

On December 15, 2010, following an 8 day trial in the Circuit Court of Kanawha County, West Virginia, the Tinney Law Firm obtained a complete defense verdict in favor of Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Coleman and the Grand Lodge of West Virginia.

The Plaintiff, a former Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of West Virginia, had sued the Lodge and the individual Defendants for breach of contract, defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress after his expulsion from the private fraternal organization. The defense, led by Jim Tinney and assisted by John Tinney and Jack Tinney, argued that private fraternal organizations such as the Masons are entitled to interpret their own laws as they see fit, but that in any event, the Plaintiff was not damaged in any recognizable way.

The jury agreed, finding no damages, no defamation and no infliction of any emotional distress.
